At the Khalifa International Stadium, England’s opening Group B encounter against Iran ended in a 6-2 victory for England thanks to a brace from Bukayo Saka.
After their 6-1 victory over Panama in 2018, this victory ranks as England’s second-highest scoring game in the opening match of a major international competition.
Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, and Raheem Sterling all scored in the first half to give England the lead. Despite Mehdi Taremi’s consolation goal after the hour mark and a late penalty in the second half, Saka scored twice to give England a 4-0 lead early in the second half, and the Three Lions went on to win.
Goals from Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish then put an end to the game for The Three Lions.
England will play the USA next on November 25th at the Al Bayt Stadium
