Shatta Wale Bags His First RIAA Gold Certification With Beyoncé

Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale has obtained a Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) “Gold” certification.

This is for his collaboration with Beyoncé on the song, “Already” which sold more than 500,000 copies in the United States of America. ‘Already’ which also features Major Lazer, is off Beyoncé’s studio album aptly named, “The Lion King: The Gift” – which was released on July 19, 2019, and was featured in the 2020 film “Black Is King”.

This is a huge win for Shatta Wale as he joins British-Ghanaian singer and rapper, Fuse ODG as the only Ghanaian musician to accomplish this feat. Fuse ODG obtained the RIAA Gold certification in 2020 for his contribution to the “Light It Up” Remix with Major Lazer and Nyla (Brick & Lace).

Shatta Wale is however expected to perform at the SummerStage Concert in New York, the Bronx alongside Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Wiyaala on August 13, at Crotona Park.
